Find Out How Alia Bhatt Nailed The Garba Song In Gangubai Kathiawadi; Choreographer Kruti Mahesh Midya Says The Actress Did A 'Fantastic Job'
Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi has been making buzz for a long time. The teaser received an amazing response from netizens. Talking about the songs, it is known that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi will have two Garba numbers and both are choreographed by the popular choreographer Kruti Mahesh Midya. In a recent interview, Kruti opened up about how Alia nailed her Garba song and what it was like working with the actress.

Speaking to ETimes, she said, "Garba has different forms and flavours as you move into different areas of Gujarat. Essentially, it is going around in circles and clapping at regular intervals but it has evolved as a dance form over the years and varies depending on the region. Like what we did with Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi was a different take on Garba with a Kathiawadi essence. It's different from what you see people doing in Mumbai. It's the finer details like the way people turn and clap that make it all look different. God lies in details and it's these details that make all the difference." She added that the mazaa is in the details.

Reportedly, Alia was shooting a Garba song which remained incomplete for a long time due to her COVID diagnosis, and the subsequent halt on film shoots for several weeks earlier this year. Talking about it, Kruti said, "It felt like we have lived on that set for a very long time. It was a challenge to come back to that set with the same dancers and with the same energy. It did take Alia and all of us some time to get things in motion. But she did a fantastic job and she proves why filmmakers love to work with her - she is a complete professional who surrenders to her director, her choreographer, and the character. Yes, we had to change a few things about the choreography, but that just helped because it looked so much better, improvised from the last time when we were shooting for it. It was difficult but just as much fun to can the song.”
